[28/04/2010] Things to check before you buy memory foam mattress

Memory foam mattress is foam which consists of a warmer (softer) and a cooler (firmer) region within itself. These regions react with the body heat and then mould the body within some time. These foams are mixed with mattress and as a result end up giving solidness of a firm mattress as well as the comfort of a soft one.
Buying memory foam is not as easy as it sounds, especially when we know that there exist a gazillion variety of such kinds each having its own benefits and comfort.  These foams tend to vary in shapes and sizes too.

In such a dynamic environment, it gets difficult for one to decide which one should he/she go for? Should he re-buy the one he has been using for years or buy the new one available of which he doesn’t has any idea is comfortable or not?  Which one is more durable? These are some ambiguities that arise when we buy a mattress as we all know it’s not a cheap item that one can afford to change frequently.

There are various factors that a buyer can and should take into consideration:

1. Mattress coils:
According to a research a King Size memory foam mattress consists of 450 spring coils & Queen Size consists of 375 spring coils. The size of the mattress depends upon the coils used in it. So when you buy a mattress you should buy one which has ample space for you and your partner to sleep on it so that the spending is worth it.

2. Memory foam’s padding:
Memory foam consists of many layers which protect against the inner spring coil. Usually the manufacturers use low quality padding which doesn’t survives for a longer period. As a result the springs disturb your good night sleep causing severe backache issues. So be smart and check whether the padding material is of high quality or not. For this reason always do a survey of the sellers before you a buy a foam.

3. Extra features:
If you have children then make sure that the mattress has a washable option. At times the mattress covers can be removed as well. These features may not be important to all but to some it may be as it wouldn’t affect those people whose children love jumping and playing on the mattress.
Last but not least it is very important to first asses your budget before you decide to buy the mattress. These mattresses are not only expensive but also an essential item and so for this you have to be a prudent buyer.

Therefore in order to choose from the options of number of mattresses the best suggestion would be to go through a survey. By going through the process of survey you will come across many customized options that can match your desire of a comfortable mattress and you will also be aware of the quality, type and price range with in your affordability level.
